Which business course do I need to take?

Our largest subject is business, with hundreds of current students from over 100 different countries and twenty-five different courses available. Undergraduate, postgraduate, short course, marketing, management, finance, human resources, project management, MBA… the possibilities are virtually limitless!

However, with so many options, how do you know which of our numerous courses to study? Today, we’re removing the confusion and ensuring that you enroll in the course that’s right for you.

Undergraduate vs. postgraduate

We recently discussed the distinction between our Bachelors and Masters degrees in another blog post – and no, you do not need an undergraduate degree to enroll in a postgraduate course!

While it is true that if you already hold an undergraduate degree, a postgraduate course is likely to be more appropriate, this also depends on your level of experience. If you’ve worked in a managerial capacity for several years, you may have enough experience to begin a postgraduate degree, even if you’ve never attended college.

You may believe that you need A-levels to apply for our undergraduate degrees, but this is not the case if you have at least three years’ experience in a relevant role and GCSE Maths and English (grade A-C). And even if you lack these, you can still enrol in our CertHE Business and Management, which has no entry requirements other than proficiency in English.

Postgraduate courses offer a much broader range of options, and the courses themselves are more specialised. Therefore, if you are experienced in your field and wish to gain a deeper understanding of a particular aspect of business, a postgraduate degree is likely to be more appropriate. If you’re just starting out in your career and looking for a leg up, take a look at our undergraduate programmes.

How about brief courses?

If you’re uncertain about entering the field, a 12-month short course in Business and Management can provide you with a respected qualification.

Additionally, we offer postgraduate short courses, which are ideal if you’re unsure how much time you want to spend studying. We offer PG Certs and PG Dips with an approximate study duration of eight and sixteen months, respectively, which are highly regarded qualifications in their own right and can also be used as a stepping stone to a full Masters.

Undergraduate business concentrations

If you believe you are qualified for a Bachelor’s degree, the choices do not end there! We offer two undergraduate business degrees: the BA (Hons) in Business and Management and the BA (Hons) in Business and Marketing.

Both courses cover a variety of similar topics, such as project management, business strategy, and human resource management. Additionally, they include specialty modules such as Consumer Behavior (marketing) and Financial Decision Making (management).

If you’re unsure which path is best for you, take a look at this blog post that compares the two.

Options for postgraduate business studies

At the postgraduate level, the picture becomes more complicated: we offer eight distinct Master’s degrees in a variety of general and specialty business subjects, including an AMBA-accredited online MBA.

The simplest way to determine which of these options to pursue is to consider your career objectives. Consider a specialist degree in digital marketing, human resource management, business analytics, finance, supply chain management, or project management if you are certain you want a career in a particular field. On the other hand, if you’re looking to broaden your business knowledge, our Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Business Management (MBM) programmes may be a better fit.

Still perplexed? We’ve created a brief quiz to assist you in making the best choice for you.

Finally, you are not required to immediately enrol in a full degree programme! We offer PG Certs and PG Dips with an approximate study duration of eight and sixteen months, respectively, which are highly regarded qualifications in their own right and can also be used as a stepping stone to a full Masters.
